Teenager finds her pace

Omagh teenager Nicole McAleer found her pace at Cadwell Park, with each session throughout the weekend she was getting faster and when it really counted in the race she set her quickest ever lap around the Lincolnshire track with a 1.37.781.

Her rhythm was disturbed when the race was initially red-flagged after four laps when Rendell fell heavily at Barn, but on the restart of eight laps she made a lightening quick start but was bulked and pushed wide during the opening lap. However she was soon back on the pace and had her head down and reeling in the rest of the field.

By the end of the eight lap dash she was disappointed not to have another lap as she was clearly catching 15th place and one point, but she was more than delighted to take her best finish this season in 16th place overall and sixth place in the Academy Cup.

McAleer’s next outing is in two weeks time at Croft, when the Superbike Championship moves back up North to Yorkshire and she is hoping to make more gains in the Cup Championship, where she is currently lying in tenth place.
