New helmet and more improvement for McAleer

Nicole McAleer unveiled a new helmet design at Knockhill on Sunday, for one of her favourite rounds of the British Superbike Championship calendar. The Omagh teenager who drew the initial design was delighted with the final results produced by Ainslie Gordon of airforcedfx.co.uk and wore the new design for race day.

McAleer has been gaining in confidence every time she throws her leg over the little Megabikes.ie/Splash in the Pan racing Honda. Improving on her times every session over the three days Nicole was happy when she produced her best qualifying this season and even more delighted to claim her best Academy Cup finish this season with seventh place.

She was pushed throughout the race by her team mate and regular sparring partner on the track Ben Barrett, who at the chequered flag she was able to out run coming out of the final corner to claim 21st place overall. She said afterwards; “that was a good race, although the bike is still a bit down on power and at one point I thought Ii might have to pull out of the race, but the problem cleared and I was able to continue.”

With her confidence every increasing with each race she now looks forward to moving back down south of the border to Mallory Park in a fortnight’s time.
