Highs and lows for teenager
Omagh teenager Nicole McAleer hit a high on Saturday during the opening qualifying session when on an extremely damp and tricky Oulton Park track, she scorched through the field to end up on a front row starting position, in fourth place. Her highest grid position to date. However the much hoped for rain failed to materialise during the final session late on Saturday afternoon, thus in the dry conditions McAleer was more than disappointed to qualify further down the field in 27th position.
Despite her disappointment the previous day McAleer was upbeat for the race and managed to get a lightening start off the line, moving up five places in the opening lap, however she failed to make it to the end of the third lap when she was involved in a racing incident that saw her ending the race in the gravel. Thankfully, although she was unable to restart, she only suffered cuts and bruising and will be back on track at the next round at Knockhill in three weeks time, more determined than ever.
